Google Fun things:  Twenty Percent time GooglePlex April Fool's Day Jokes

| How Google makes Money?  In 2005 Google’s revenues were over $6 billion on which they earned about $1.5 billion in net income. In just a short time Google has increased its value to over $110 billion, putting it on par (in value) with the likes of Cisco Systems, Nestle and Coca-Cola. So the obvious question is - how can Google make so much money? Well, Google makes most of its money through the sale of ads. In fact, of the company’s $6.2 billion in revenue in 2005, over $6 billion is from the ads.
What is  ? YouTube is a free online video streaming service that allows users to view and share videos that have been uploaded by our members. Anyone can view and share videos, and members can upload videos and use other features, free of charge. |
Google Founders?  The founders of the Google internet search engine - Larry Page and Sergey Brin - are the type of young men most parents would dream of their daughters bringing home. And far from simply because they will both be billionaires following a stock market flotation of Google. Instead, most mums and dads would also be drawn to the facts that both men are very clean cut in appearance, undeniably hard working and intelligent, and seem, well, just "nice". Yet far from living an extravagant lifestyle, complete with yachts and private jets like fellow software leader Oracle boss Larry Ellison, Mr Page, 31, and Mr Brin, 30, are both reported to continue to live modest, unassuming lifestyles. They don't even have sports cars, and instead are said to each drive a Toyota Prius, a plain-looking but rather environmentally friendly saloon that is half electric-powered, and growing in popularity among green-minded Americans.

April Fools day Jokes Google has a tradition of creating April Fool's Day jokes - such as Google MentalPlex, which allegedly featured the use of mental power to search the web. In 2002, they claimed that pigeons were the secret behind their growing search engine. In 2004, they featured Google Lunar (which claimed to feature jobs on the moon) and in 2005, a fictitious brain-boosting drink, termed Google Gulp was announced. In 2006 they came up with Google Romance.

So where would you invest if you had to choose between buying into eBay or Google? They are both amazing companies. It's hard to argue against that. But would your money be better off riding on the established auctioneer or the faster growing search engine?
Google's tremendous success in searching came as a surprise to Microsoft, which did not understand the potential searching had for catching loyal users and ad revenue. To this day Microsoft has no search engine of their own. Their MSN portal is powered by one of their competitors in the market namely: Yahoo!
